Marketing Tips

Some marketing tips to think about include:

  1. Don't Try to Trick Search Engines

This is a very common ploy. Sometimes it will work, but it usually does not. Two reasons: First, search engines don't like to be tricked. Although a shady web site marketing technique may work for a while, eventually Google or Yahoo, etc. will catch you and your site could be banned from the search engine, possibly forever. Second, and most important, many web developers get so involved in getting high rankings in search engines they forget about the user. They end up with a web site that comes up with a high ranking based on their keywords, but once the visitor is there they leave after 2 seconds. Why do they leave? Simple, it is because all of the designer’s effort has been put into marketing and none into developing quality content/information and clear layout.

  2. Develop Quality Content

Far too often quality content is under-emphasized. The effects of quality content go beyond search engines into the realm of real internet marketing strategies. This is also a very difficult to master. By delving into the minds of the site visitor you can discover what they are REALLY looking for. Usually what a company owner or web designer thinks a customer wants is far from the truth. Focus your time on creating quality content based on the visitors needs. This will help create a web site that is light years ahead of your competition.

  3. Have a Professional Looking Site

A customer's first impression could be the company's web site. Make a lasting impression the first time they visit with a clean, simple, elegant design. I am sure there are some of you out there who have been to a web site and thought it was fabulous looking company, only to find out the company was a little hole in the wall in a slum area of town. Of course, the opposite can be true as well, where there is a poor looking web site for a outstanding company. Remember to match your web site with your organization as well. Customers will have an idea of what your company should be like from your web site. If this doesn’t fall true they may decide to abandon you.

  4. Use Many Advertising Forms

Don't rely on internet marketing as your sole source of your marketing efforts. Combine your efforts and have them cooperate with each other. Does this mean having an expensive print or TV media campaign? No, it means just mixing things up a bit. You could send out a newsletter to your customers, utilize direct mail, phone soliciting, networking, handing out business cards when you have the chance, etc. Just don’t get too caught up in internet marketing and be ignoring other excellent marketing opportunities.

  5. Utilize Online Promotions

Just like other forms of marketing, online advertising can sometimes require a small boost to get your customer to take the final plunge into deciding to use your company for their needs. Online promotions are an ideal way to fill this gap. Many methods work such as discounts, specials, limited-time offers, online-only prices, etc.
